GENERAL CLASSES

CLASS 200 RESTRICTED CLASS -Song In Costume.  9 years & under                $15 Entry Fee

Open to competitors who have not received a First Placing for Vocal in this Festival or any other Performing Arts Vocal Competition. The person with the highest marks wins the CDP Award.

Please note: The song entered in this class cannot be used in any other class at this festival.

CLASS 201   VOCAL CHAMPIONSHIP  9 years and under              $15 entry fee

Competitors must enter this class and classes, 202, 203, 204, 205. The person with the highest marks wins the Arietta Trophy and $30

CLASS 202     Vocal Solo                                           9 Years and under      $15 entry fee

CLASS 203     Traditional or Folk Song                     9 Years and under      $15 entry fee

CLASS 204     Sacred/Spiritual/Gospel                     9 years and under       $15 entry fee                                          

CLASS 205     Song in Costume                                9 years and under      $15 entry fee

CLASS 211   VOCAL CHAMPIONSHIP  10 - 12 years       $15 entry fee

Competitors must enter this class and classes, 212, 213, 214, 215. The person with the highest marks wins the Margo Roberts Trophy and $30

CLASS 213     Traditional or Folk Song                     10 - 12 years          $15 entry fee

CLASS 214     Sacred/Spiritual/Gospel                   10 - 12 years          $15 entry fee 

CLASS 215     Song in Costume                               10 - 12 years          $15 entry fee

CLASS 221   VOCAL CHAMPIONSHIP  13 - 15 years       $15 entry fee

Competitors must enter this class and classes, 222, 223, 224, 225. The person with the highest marks wins the Robert Freeman Memorial Cup and $30

Competitors must enter this class and classes, 232, 233, 234, 235. The person with the highest marks wins the Vicki Martin Trophy and $30

CLASS 234     Sacred/Spiritual/Gospel                    16 – 18 year                $15 entry fee  

CLASS 235     Song in Costume                                16 - 18 years               $15 entry fee

CLASS 260   MUSICAL THEATRE IN COSTUME  30 years and under     $20 entry fee

Candidates must prepare two contrasting selection, in Costume.  Songs will not be sung consecutively to ensure time for Costume Change.

·       Time Limit 4 minutes (per song)

·       Prize Money: 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50

Class 260 may only take place if there are more than 5 competitors

CLASS 261   RAMON OPIE MEMORIAL CUP RECITAL 30 years and under $20 entry fee

Ramon Opie QSM (1917-1995) was a prominent Auckland based tenor who was a soloist for the NZ Opera Company, Auckland Choral Society, Grand Opera Society, and many others.

·       The recital must include three contrasting songs:

1.     Gilbert and Sullivan own selection

2.     Classical Aria own selection.

3.     German Lied own selection

·       Time Limit: 15 minutes

·       Prize Money: 1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $75

Class 261 may only take place if there are more than 5 competitors
